Instructions
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a cast iron skillet.
In a large mixing bowl, add self-rising flour. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Slowly pour in buttermilk, stirring gently with a wooden spoon or spatula until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat it down to ¾-inch thickness and use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out rounds. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet/skillet.

Notes
Additional Tips:
For flakier biscuits, freeze the butter for 10 minutes before grating it into the flour.
If you don’t have self-rising flour, make your own by mixing 2 cups all-purpose flour, 3 tsp baking powder, and ½ tsp salt.
Avoid overworking the dough to keep the biscuits light and fluffy.
Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze for later use.
